doing up too many CAS forms at one go is hazardous, as was proven to me when i realized i had so many mistakes which i had to correct today, meaning that i couldn't get the signatures i wanted... pfft...
i found that out during the impromptu study group after school today, where i listened deon/sean/han an's TOK presentations...
the day went past by in a bit of a rush after the 2.4 test today, where i ran a pretty ok 10:58, though failing miserably at keeping in line with the Draft with Lex/Tedkin/Gerald, and coming in after those three/matthew/gabriel/john.chris...
SL3 period was spent looking through my Econs notes and reading forward to Section 5, which kinda foreshadowed the 100minutes of econs after that since we did, in fact, start on Section 5...
ended my Monday at Essential Brew, Holland V, with fingerfood and tea =)

Tuesday awaits, and i've gotta prepare myself mentally to tackle my first full Paper 2 essay during study group tomorrow so i can hand it up on wednesday...

It's April ya'll, and you know what that means...
This Month's Mine!

Sunday, 30 March 2008

finished my CAS forms for the second time today due to the new Action Hours rule, so i've got alota signatures to get tomorrow...
and i've done up my History IA draft 4, so that's out of the way too...
the only immediate deadlines i've got now are chem pract 17 report (due tuesday, so i'll do it tomorrow) and the paper 2 essay (due wednesday, so that's tuesday's work)

and there's my TWO POINT FOUR run tomorrow!

a pickup line.

Saturday, 29 March 2008

on minimal sleep since last night's post TOK OP high, i headed to school on a SATURDAY for this year's YLS...
like i told Paul, i'll keep my comments till slightly later, but suffice to say, last year's was seriously better...
and i'm not saying that since they decided to do it completely differently it's automatically bad, 'cos there was huge potential for it to be awesome, but it just flopped...
anyhow, the start of the day was pretty fun with in impromptu six.nine gathering at the Arts sector since so many of us were either facilitating/participating in these chambers, so we chatted for over an hour before the thing began, late as expected...
sat with deon for lunch, then headed to classroom six.nine to hang around for a while (and play lf2 with gerald, he seems to have got hooked on it for some reason) before we began the chamber discussions...
in the end the 4 arts chambers merged into 2, and gen/cheryl's chambers won, congrats =)
jeanette aw ended the whole summit, which added a touch of celebrity to an otherwise blah event...
headed to WahChee for dinner with jim/elliot/gerald/nic before Centrestage, which was on the whole pretty ok, though the play we thought would win didn't...

i don't quite think i'll be able to do the work i had planned to do this weekend by tomorrow, so i'll just let week 3 handle it...

thanks for being beside me continuously(:

Friday, 28 March 2008

the whole process leading up to the TOK Presentation was slightly lost on me 'cos i've not changed my topic ever, and ever since translating what i wrote on my slides last year onto my trusty cue cards, all i've ever done is rehearse...
but i felt absolutely and utterly invested in the whole process 'cos i kinda know what everyone in class was presenting about and tried my very best to give an honest, constructive opinion...
that's perhaps why when the presentations drew to a close slightly after 5pm today, it felt as if i had accomplished something...
i can't quite explain how it felt, but it was a combination of the adrenaline from presenting a 9minute35second argument that i didn't think would go that well since my voice was threatening to leave me ever since last night, and seeing the final products of the rest of my classmates' presentations in their totality, and knowing that in what little way i could, i had a tiny part to play...
something must be said about the joy in simply helping when you can, and i've been thankful to have been on both the receiving and giving ends of it...
and it was a form of contented resolution that kinda makes all this schoolwork we're during feel like it's worth something =)
that feeling accompanied me as i joined mel/daryl/gerald/joash/elliot/jim/gen/nic/cielo/songyeong/justin at WahChee for some post-presentation chat...
[thanks for the drink joash, you&gerald don't owe me anything, was glad to help :)]
not exactly the most celebratory of locations, but it didn't take away one bit from the awesomeness of the unplanned gathering...
and yeah, it's been such a long time since we did that as a class (:

no one's in the mood to do any YLS stuff, and i'm glad i did some stuff prior to this week, so i should be ready for tomorrow morning...
and if enough ppl are going for CentreStage i might go after the summit too...

it's been an altogether fulfilling week.

Thursday, 27 March 2008

spent the first half of my day typing out CAS forms because of the new Action Hours rule, and the rest of my lessons kinda flew past in a bit of a blur, up to the point of the ridiculous PC lesson which was perhaps the most unbearable 40minutes i've experienced this year...
immediately after ty left the classroom, i just jumped right into helping Mel with her TOK presentation to salvage any semblance of constructiveness i could muster up after that coma-inducing experience...
and it was a pretty fruitful discussion, after which i popped over to gerald/joash's presentation to see how they were doing since the last time we chatted, and that kinda just progressed to the rest of my classmates who had stayed around to finish their slides and stuff...
it was probably the one day in which everyone who had a laptop had their's open indefinitely for the whole duration of the day typing away at their TOK stuff, myself included...
stayed in school till 7ish, and managed to rehearse once more before heading home to rehearse more...
i might sound slightly compulsive with the whole 10-minute thing, but its a discipline thing i guess - being able to make that exact timing shows the rehearsal i've put into this...
the benefit of having not changed my topic ever is that i've been able to familiarize myself with exactly what i plan to say, and i hope i peak tomorrow =)
the first real IB assessment ever since IOP last year!

it's kinda cool that my class is the only class doing our presentations alone tomorrow, so here goes out to all the six.nine folks out there - MAKE IT WORK =)

Wednesday, 26 March 2008

leaving school at 120pm today meant i had some time at home to rehearse my TOK presentation a few more times, and my only goal is that i hit 10minutes, not a second more or less...
i need to find the right tone for Friday too, and hopefully i'm one of the earlier presenters 'cos i don't think i could handle waiting too much...

the first half of the day for me tomorrow is practically free, 'cos i've got 80 minutes of SL3 free, 60 minutes of TOK (in which i'll probably just rehearse again), and 40 minutes of break after that, before econs and both english periods, then another break... since i have no math at the end of the day, i can get home slightly earlier once more to rehearse...

Happy 18th Mel!
perhaps post-TOK presentation we'll get to go to town and celebrate =)

your wave was the simple gesture i remembered(:

Tuesday, 25 March 2008

missed my usual blog post yesterday 'cos i only got back minutes before midnight, and hopped straight into bed knowing if i didn't, i'd feel like complete crap today...
thankfully i didn't, and made it through a long and arduous Week B Tuesday without much damage...
minutes ago, i received an email from mr. quek telling me he had finished looking through my World Lit 2 essay, and i'm bracing myself for some serious feedback tomorrow... also gotta pass my draft to mrs. goh since i didn't get to see her today...
that, and getting my math portfolio back during SL, mean that my supposed plans to skip school are postponed, probably till week 4 tuesday, since now i know that i have to hand in the real portfolio on week 5 monday...
but i'm jumping ahead of myself -
yesterday was a blast!
school itself was pretty boring, the only highlight being the shuttle run and badminton during PE...
the real day started after the yls facilitator's briefing, when i met han an/deon to head over to d's apartment to shower/change before having dinner and rushing to the Esplanade for MUSE, the ACJC band concert...
strangely, the ACSI ppl, at least the ppl in my year, got to play more songs than the acj ppl, which was obviously a plus for me, and i got to hear more of gen/yewjin/ron/justin play...
post-concert, we met the girls who had brought the cake and other stuff to help get the surprise ready, and the whole thing panned out really well, photo evidence of which is already available on Facebook, the necessary social network, courtesy of Lucy =)
so Happy 18th Gen!
(and Justin too!)

my day ends at 120 tomorrow 'cos of free HL3, so i'm not sure if i'll stay around for study group or head back to rehearse my TOK presentation again...

new assignments -
1) chem pract 17 report (first i've done ever since the year began)
2) strand 2 may'04 paper 2 essay

for that brief moment i was with you/it made my day(:

Sunday, 23 March 2008

oddly, i don't feel completely ravaged by the Math Portfolio, unlike last year...
perhaps it has something to do with the fact that this is merely a trial, and that in 2 weeks' time, when we get the real thing, i'll feel like killing something by the time i'm halfway into completing it, but for now i'll languish in the moment of having finished this one without having to lose unnecessary sleep...
apparently the real one has been posted online already - it's something about exponential decay again, but concerning the intake of medicine/drugs...
one thing i DO regret about having had to stay home to do the portfolio today was having to miss Ron's baptism, and not getting to attend it with Yew Jin...
i did leave the house yesterday to meet Paul/Han An for lunch at Crystal Jade, Holland V before heading to school for study group... finished my way-over-the-limit World Lit Assignment 2, and we presented our TOK IAs, and i think we're pretty confident after hearing each other's feedback... mine's on Friday btw!

so mercifully i won't be totally dead during PE tomorrow and Gen's concert in the evening... whatever the case, i hope it turns out to be a really good day after having endured today's work...
the way things are looking Tuesday looks like a good day to skip school and sleep in to rejuvenate, but i don't think i will if i wanna save my day-off for later in the term, probably around week 6 if i can't hold out till week 8...

and to feel what it's like in your embrace(:

Saturday, 22 March 2008

and i'll be right here waiting(:

Thursday, 20 March 2008

the first week of term ended perfectly at Holland Village, where i spent about 4-odd hours just chatting and eating with Han An/Sarah/Sean/Tricia at Marmalade Pantry, Frolick and Crystal Jade, the middle joint fast becoming my fave spot here...
felt completely relaxed after that, probably the most fun i'll have before embarking on the Math Portfolio this weekend...
Matthew kindly showed me the right answer during the council election today, and Gerald and i were copying the GDC procedure down in between votes, though knowing my absolute lack of math-technology literacy, i might still find it incredibly arduous to get this trial portfolio done...

All the lonely people/where do they all belong?

Wednesday, 19 March 2008

it only occurred to me a few hours back that my week ends tomorrow, which means 3 days to slave away at my Math Portfolio...
that realization was during study group while looking through my timetable to check when my next chem lesson was since han an warned me about a 'spring test' on just about everything we learnt this year, though it was an open-book test...
and i managed to write 998 words for my World Lit Assignment 2, but it's kinda worrying 'cos i'm only like a third of the way into commenting on my 36-line passage... heh
which means i don't have chem till next monday, though this test thingy might be on the pract period on tuesday, and i have no history this week at all...
study group ended what feels like the longest day in the week A timetable although it is relatively short in terms of hours, but we have everything except SL1... and for today, no HL3 too, and TOK kinda doesn't count...
speaking of which, i was told that the contemporary example that comes from the last 10 years isn't a necessity, but it is "good" to have it, which kinda just means the same thing - have it or get screwed...
so i've got to look for this case of some teenager murdering someone's wife over an insurance thingy a few years back which mel told me about...
handed in my stack of math worksheets to Mr Yap today after making all the necessary corrections, so i might take the liberty of skipping a lesson or two in the coming weeks, though tomorrow's lesson is already cancelled 'cos of a course he has...
i wonder if there will be any early-end-of-schoolweek plans...
hopefully the econs test isn't during the 1st HL2 period tomorrow, and by the looks of it it probably won't be 'cos he picked up immediately from where he left off last term, which is quite impressive, 'cos i could literally fill in the blanks i had deliberately left for myself...
apart from that, the only substantial lesson i have tomorrow is King Lear pract, and the TOK presentation briefing of course...

important dates coming up that aren't test-related -
Monday, 24 March: Band concert featuring Genevieve who happens to be turning 18 that day
Saturday 29 March: YLS

Idol/ANTM/One Tree Hill night!

Tuesday, 18 March 2008

yes, as the tagboard says, FROLICK was the last stop on both my Monday and Tuesday, and the yoghurt there is pretty darn good, particularly Cup B Original =)
today's dessert was after dinner with Han An at Crystal Jade...
and that in turn was after study group in school till we got chased out of the B3 classroom we were in, and i started on my World Literature Assignment 2(c)...
and THAT was perhaps the most work i did the entire day in which i had slightly more than 4 hours of break, beginning with missing some of Econs after REW, then the mega-break after chem 'cos of the history free period, and then another hour or so after english before math...
in english we got back our test papers, and as expected, the poem proved to be too hard for most, including myself, and in math, i quite literally sat there twiddling my thumbs and helping ppl with their worksheets, but Mr Yap let me have the notes for the next topic (Statistics and Probability), so i can now spend my math periods doing something other than looking through for the umpteenth time the worksheets i've done wondering if they're tidy enough...

study group tomorrow, though i'll probably not join the group for dinner 'cos, as it is Wednesday, IDOL is on!

and you didn't catch me grinning when you sat closer today(:

Monday, 17 March 2008

OH GOSH
just reading the instructions on all the software i need for this Trial Math Portfolio is making my head spin
though i didn't have my Econs test today after all, it didn't mean the day would go by pleasantly...
probably due to my lack of sleep (which is so odd, i'm normally ok with 3 hours of sleep), i had a splitting heading towards the second half of the day, causing me not to completely enjoy the impromptu gathering after my EE supervision...
it's REW, so we'll be missing half of Econs tomorrow and half of my free SL3 period on Wednesday...
additionally, today's test was replaced by a guest lecture, and though it wasn't deathly boring, i was super sleepy through most of it...

new deadlines to add to my ever-growing list -
REAL TOK Presentation: Monday, 31st March...
i just heard that my contemporary example has to be 1998 and up, which means my 1993 example may be disqualified, though i was SO not told about this before...
and on the same last day of this month, i'll be having my TWO.POINT.FOUR run, the only physical test that actually matters in all my 12 years of schooling...
today's 2.8 run/sbj during PE were not encouraging, so urgh...

with HL3 free tomorrow, i only have Lear, Chem and Math...
and speaking of the latter, i NEED to begin my trial portfolio if i don't wanna completely and utterly die this weekend...
what was meant to be a productive discussion about exponential curves and fertilizer during SL3 free today turned into a random discussion of stuff, and while fun, was not the best use of an hour i must say =P

your laugh from across me made me smile(:
and no i won't, 'cos i'm one too.

Sunday, 16 March 2008

josh texted me today asking whether we wanted do something post-church (wisely preempting my i've-gotta-study reply), though plans kinda fell through, so instead i spent the afternoon sleeping/getting ready for the Econs test tomorrow...
hopefully it'll be a good start to the term =)

i remember that day fondly too(:

Saturday, 15 March 2008

contrary to the little column at the bottom of the front page of the Straits Times today, the weather was uncharacteristically warm, shrouding my entire day in a rather uncomfortable vibe that made what could have been a better day really tiresome...
post worship pract, i embarked on the legendary 2-hour ride on SBS #14 from church to school, and mercifully it took me only 80 minutes, and i had some time to wonder around school before meeting han an/sean to head over to NUS for the open house...
add to the heat the unbearable crowd, i only had the patience to do one round of the exhibition hall at the bottom floor before completely giving up...
the highlight of the Open House was probably getting the best goodie bag in the history of goodie bags, courtesy of singtel and some other companies...
they were so reluctant in giving it out, but han an and i just stood there till they relented...
there was this random guy that completely just snatched one bag as i was about to take it, and han an went "bitch" while i simultaneously muttered "whore", and we promptly grabbed our's and left...
we decided to take refuge in the air-conditioned comfort of Hall 6 with Lucy and some other schoolmates during the Medical School talk, and declined to join them for lunch, opting instead to head to Prince, Coronation Plaza, as we planned to have dessert at Island Creamery...

term 2 begins shortly, and i have no idea what the next 10 weeks have in store, but i'm kinda geared up to get the meatier portion of this year underway...

and to answer your question: absolutely(:

Friday, 14 March 2008

as pointed out very obviously by Han An under the muse of "anonymous" on my tagboard, we were at Icekimo this afternoon for some homemade ice cream...
this was after lunch at Shanghai Ren Jia, the full name of the joint i've hitherto simply referred to as the Shanghai place...
it was kinda strange that absolutely no one was free today to join us, but lunch was delish nonetheless, though han an insists the food wasn't up to standard (ie the many other times we've visited it)
at Icekimo, after getting over the usual non-productive stuff like ripping music and loading ANTM vids, we both got down to some serious work till, around the same time, our laptops ran out of juice, but by then we had done an hour of really solid work...
on my end i'd finished my 4th draft of my History IA, working on gaining each mark i lost in Criteria B, C, D and F respectively...
we headed to Starbucks, Thomson Plaza for some non-work drinks and chat to reward ourselves for a hard day's work, promising to meet up more often to emulate today's fine example x)
oh but today's work outing was at the expense of a four.eleven soccer gathering in school, and due to the nature of the gathering i wasn't too keen on going, though it would've been nice to see everyone again as a whole instead of the occasional encounter along the halls of school...

NUS open house tomorrow after worship pract in the morning...

i missed hearing your voice today.

Thursday, 13 March 2008

though 12 hours too late, i have to post about the Housewarming Party at Deon's new apartment last night, for which photo evidence will be available shortly on the necessary social network, Facebook...
met han an/sean at Ikea to buy the requested housewarming gift (a lamp) and had a rather interesting time using the new features of the Wrapping Station...
then it was off to the Cathay to get tickets for Step Up 2 The Streets, and a detour to the economical japanese joint at the basement for some post-ikea-lunch dessert...
the movie itself was predictably fun, and some of the better songs are strangely not featured in the OST...
we eventually made our way in the rain to Newton Suites, and since it was raining, the BBQ plans were kinda cancelled and han an/me put on our best Desperate Housewives impressions and got down to helping Deon prepare the food before the other guests arrived...
and i must say we did a pretty good job of making food that was meant to be eaten grilled taste really good without any charcoal x)
spent some time by the poolside and chatting during the first part of AMI before leaving...

gotta get down to more work tomorrow, perhaps in Thomson if lunch plans at the Shanghai joint come through...

i constantly worry that i'm not what you're looking for.

Tuesday, 11 March 2008

met han an/sean for breakfast at KAP before heading to school for study group...
sarah joined us shortly after, and the first half of the day went by pretty productively, and i managed to finish studying 2 of 5 topics for the econs test this coming monday before i felt completely saturated and had to break for lunch...
sarah/han an/me went to dover market for lunch/bubble tea, and the second half of the day was shorter but equally productive - i wasn't planning on doing it, but when i was reading my Econs IA 4 article again, i thought i'd give it a shot, and to my surprise, i finished writing it out and still had 10 minutes to spare before our booking of the Conrad room in the library expired... now all i've gotta do is type it out...

and on this note of work and productivity, allow me to applaud Paul Chups, who has soldiered on on this rainy Tuesday working on the ever-important TOK presentation, while his teammate finds it apt to, and i quote, "sleep in" instead...
it's no news that said person is not on my list of most favoured ppl, but when i read the tone of absolute frustration from chups and having heard how the mock presentation went last week, i wholly and utterly mean it when i say - Chups, ditching the sob is the best decision you've made in all of TOK =)

less work and more play tomorrow, including Step Up 2 The Streets!

and i'm dying to ask you how it went, but i dun wanna give you that impression

Monday, 10 March 2008

going to school today was a bit of a waste of time, since ty didn't have any comments for my IA apart from the stuff he'd written... he gave me a 16, which i can bump up to a 17 with no effort at all 'cos i lost 1 mark on Biblio, and i think i'd be happy with that mark... losing one mark each in criteria B/C/D seems fair, but i'll try to lose less if i can...
i did get my Econs stuff from my locker, so if we don't have study group in school but somewhere else tomorrow, i wouldn't have wasted the trip down completely after all...
the MFA lecture was really a recount of the history of the Ministry, and the analysis of current world events took up the last 5% of the speech only, so it wasn't exactly what i was looking forward too... didn't stay around for the reception either (i know some ppl will kill me for it, 'cos it was the shangri-la after all) 'cos it was kinda awkward talking to all those MFA ppl during the cocktail reception before the lecture already, so i wasn't up for the whole smile-and-say-hi routine again...

when i saw that it was from you, i could hardly contain my excitement at that unexpected surprise(:

Sunday, 9 March 2008

headed home after church to rest before squash, and get some reading for World Lit Assignment 2 done...
Adi/Josh were at squash today, and it's been ages since i've seen Adi, so it was kinda funny; he really hasn't changed much, and the conversation about our heydays as debaters was priceless...
dinner at Cafe Tivoli, and back to sam's place to play some mahjong, which eventually got sidetracked and i watched the concluding hour of The Black Dahlia, one of those suspense-filled shows that, as much as i have no idea what the story line is about besides the fact that it's about a murdered actress, every scene was just so engrossing...

so it's school and shang tomorrow, and i should be able to get my Econs stuff ready to start studying for the test next week during study group on tuesday...

and i'd give it all to have plans with you(:

Saturday, 8 March 2008

spent the entire day out with Han An on the outskirts of town, beginning with lunch at Marina Square...
we wanted to head over to One Fullerton so i could check out possible locations for my 18th, but we kinda couldn't locate it, so after an hour or so checking out the Esplanade in all its Mosaic glory, we went for a drink at Suntec before heading to the Swiss Uni exhibition, and i think it was a pretty useful trip...
had an early dinner at Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe...

squash tomorrow evening, and historyIAconsultation/lecture@shangri-la on Monday...

each of these days i'll be thinkin' of you.(:

Friday, 7 March 2008

Term 1, you bitch/i never even knew you.

so the last 10 weeks have been ridiculous, but i've emerged unscathed on most fronts, and i'm quite looking forward to some down time, as well as doing my Math Portfolio, World Literature Assignment 2 and Economics IA 4, and study for the econs test which we have the first thing back in term 2...
with that done i should be in pretty good shape going into the next term, starting with my mock IOC which i printed today along with my EE (handing it in was unbelievably fulfilling)...

the EDB seminar was a rehash of yesterday's UK uni lecture, but with more details about the UCAS process, which was useful... 15 Oct is my deadline for applying...
didn't stay for the q&a but left with Gerald instead, chatting on the 961...
dropped off at NJ to continue my journey back home, and saw quite a number of my IP mates whose names have left my memory, and alot of the my IP seniors who got their A level results back...
it was weirdly reminiscent, especially since i was talking to gerald about some of my NJ experiences just a moment back...

worship practice today was rather surreal, in that i, in a state of absolute zoned-out-ness, felt slightly inundated with songs that weren't chosen with the ppl playing in mind, and with a far too young band for comfort...
i think i came across slightly invasive in my comments while we were rehearsing, but yeah, it was kinda weird, the whole thing...
hope Sunday turns out fine though...

may accompany Han An to his consultation of unis tomorrow at suntec, followed by dinner out...

there was no one else i'd rather have spent today with(:

Thursday, 6 March 2008

having to cut stuff from my EE was probably more painful than actually doing it...
but now that it's done, i'm sitting pretty at 4000 words, ready for printing and submission tomorrow =)
that, and my mock IOC script which i rehearsed today during SL3 free period at the beginning of the day, and had to add some stuff to make 12 minutes, probably 'cos i was speaking slightly too quickly... hope it goes well, need to make an impression...
apart from these, the day was pretty productive, especially fq's English practical where we did some in-depth Paper-2-ish comparisons between Siddhartha and Huck Finn, which was really useful... we're moving at a better pace now, and that's why i've got to finish reading The Colour Purple in time for lessons next term...
the UK universities talk was interesting in that they really sold London as an ideal cosmopolitan city to study in, and of the four universities, LSE stands out the most for me, and i think i'll apply there when i get down to deciding on my final list of to-try-for places...
but arguably the most dramatic part of the day was getting our Math Portfolio (trial) which we have to hand in my Term 2, Week 2 Monday, which probably means the Sunday before will be one with no sleep...
this is probably my most dreaded assignment in all my the IB course...

gotta get some stuff for the history presentation tomorrow done, and Friday will be ending with a trip to the EDB to hear more about UCAS...

OH and because the grapevine was especially abundant with news this evening, i thought i'd hark back to the indulgence that is Gossip Girl:
Spotted: B&H warming up in town...
thanks D, it's been noted, and this should be fun to watch :)

it's you that i wanna go with(:

Wednesday, 5 March 2008

Welcome to the Funny Farm that is my school...
after receiving such thoughtful souvenirs on saturday after standing in the rain, we were told this morning that we were to fork out 33bucks in total for the book/stamps...
i really shouldn't be surprised, but it really does say something about the way the school is run...

the Career/Uni fair today was better than last year, and while some saw it as an opportunity to collect free exam pad/pens/bags/files/whatever else, i made a beeline for MAS/EDB/PSC/Law Soc and the SPF 'cos my interviewer for the book prize was there, and i was done in about 20 minutes, so headed for a drink with han an before attending the PSC talk, which turned out to be deathly boring, so we made the executive decision to skip the MFA one and have some food instead before study group...
that turned out pretty productive, allowing me to finish most of my EE before my laptop ran out of battery, which means i've just got to cut out 226 words, edit/print my mock IOC script and finish the last 66 pages of Huck Finn and i'm home free for the hols, save for World Lit assignment 2 draft and the trial Math Portfolio coming tomorrow, and perhaps writing scripts for the rest of my IOC extracts if i so find the motivation...

thursday finally, only Strand 2 pract seems engaging from the looks of it...

anything you need, just say the word(:

Tuesday, 4 March 2008

all in all a good tuesday went by, although the first half of the day was unbelievably long, what with ty and carol having back to back practical lessons...
finally began Lear IOC during english strand 1, and i must say i'm quite enjoying the intensity of the lessons once more...
and f.q returned with tales of war, where a mention of what he calls "oo-ga-ga men" made me laugh uncontrollably...
finally finished all my worksheets for math, so basically calculus is now a thing of the past for me, at least until the next test =)
not sure what i'll occupy myself with during the next few math lessons now though...
post-math, i stayed around to help Gerald/Joash with their TOK presentation, and i'm looking forward to see how it pans out during class tomorrow...
and i just might throw in a question or two to reciprocate since they asked some during my rehearsal x)
study group was fruitful, touching up my World Lit Assgnt 1 draft since i couldn't pass it up today 'cos i forgot to attach page 5 of 6, and typed out my mock IOC for Lear, which i think is a little too long for 12 minutes...

tomorrow has the signs of a pretty good day, and we only have english/tok/20 minutes of math before we head off for the university/careers fair...
and study group/dinner after that...
speaking of which, while doing the TOK presentation thingy, Gerald suggested that we should start a study group within the class, which is a pretty good idea i think, 'cos the past 2 months with the twice-a-week study routine really forces me to spend my time working instead of doing whatever at home/out somewhere...
not to mention he was the one to suggest a history study group too, which he resurrected today after ty returned to give us his insufferable group tasks again...

check out Madonna's latest single, 4 Minutes To Save The World, featuring Justin Timberlake and Timbaland, it's gonna be so rad...

all i could think of was you calling my name.(:

Monday, 3 March 2008

a one-day weekend...
post-church, i successfully completed by World Literature Assignment 1 draft, but only after 2 sittings, and as it got later into the night, my writing style deteriorated noticeably, so i might be moved to re-write the last few paragraphs if time permits...
additionally, i was having difficulty choosing what sections of the text to include, and i think i overshot the world limit ever so slightly...
and truth be told, i only grasped Miss Julie wholly, which would explain the stark difference between my analysis of that and Hedda Gabler, a text from last year which i've clean forgot most of...
so all bleary-eyed i made my way to school today, only to be met with ONE lesson, an Economics practical in which he went through the answers to our test from eons ago...
without a history teacher and the longest GOH speech in the history of man taking up PE, i was left feeling rather unproductive, so headed back after chatting with deon in the SAC at around 3...
at least i have some time to do up my mock IOC in anticipation of having to present this week...
and not to mention more or less the entire back row/econs side row being absent, so moved to the back with gerald during econs pract...

study group tomorrow, where i'll try to either do my World Literature 2 draft or polish up my EE and start on the arduous task of finding 198 words to cut...

OHEMMGEE can you say PON??!!
'cos that's the very first thing that crossed my mind when i stepped into school way too early this Saturday morning, to be greeted by a dark sky, a handful of faithful classmates, and the parade coordinator booming over the PA reminding all those marching that executing a "full swing" was a must...
and when the whole founder's day shebang started, there were only 11 from point.nine in attendance, a few others at various duties around the school...
which meant that HALF of the class made the wisest decision to stay home after the uselessness that was yesterday...
and as much as i envy them for it, today was one of those days that make you think 'damn, i shoulda never been here, but it was one heck of a day nonetheless'
those dark clouds replayed the storm from last year by raining showers of blessing on all those sitting at the astroturf, first in light sheets, then in great bucketfuls, prompting many a teacher to hitch up their skirts/saris and make for the hills as fast as their elaborate founder's day outfits allowed them to...
and so did the rest of us, recreating a scene from last year's exodus from the turf, and filling me with a sense of unorganized anarchy that probably made those in authority burst a gasket just thinking about it...
daryl and i were stopped in our tracks by one economics teacher's request to join some Creative Industries Symposium organized by VJC, but it's safe to assume that any form of academic endeavor was the furthest thing from our mind given the damp circumstances...
thankfully, the five.nine hoodie from last year was the best investment we ever made, and it ensured that those of us who brought it were not soaked completely...
up in the audi, we sat through speech after lengthy speech, ending the day in class with our newly procured stamps and coffee table books, and 2 PCTs who were probably more than slightly nonplussed at the shabby attendance...
but i must mention this - the special announcement turned out to be about the new School Anthem recording, and in general it's a nice new jingle that is as easily forgotten as the last version, but what was most hilarious was the way the choir was made to sing it at the bottom level of the audi...
quite literally, they were facing alternate rows and singing AT the bewildered guests, many of whom were gravely shaken by having a soprano belt out A flat after C sharp right in your ear...
lunch at Din Tai Feng, Paragon with Han An/Lucy/Sean/Genevieve was satisfying, and drinks at Starbucks, Crown Prince after that rounded off our first visit to town in a long time...

flipping through the 20-year recount of ACS (Independent), i'm surprised to find myself interested in details that, on normal circumstances, would never have appealed to me in the least...
maybe it's 'cos this is, after all, my final year in the school, and also because hearing about how supremely unbelievable the first IB batch was has become slightly tiresome...
they are pioneers by virtue of the fact that they were born a year earlier, and i have a feeling that my year won't settle for being seen as sloppy seconds, a fact that will probably be proven come IB exams '08...

and btw, Hey March.
