i just caught My Super Sweet 16: The Movie, starring sisters Aly and Amanda Mischalka, and it wasn't as true to the regular series as i'd hoped, what with not-so-subtle messages of rich americans not doing enough for their less fortunate countryman circa Katrina'05...
nonetheless, it was an enjoyable MTV flick, though it lacked any big names other than hellogoodbye (who've since left the entertainment radar after the success of Here In Your Arms)
Stomp The Yard was a pretty nice movie in my opinion, if only because i'm a huge fan of the step up/take the lead/you got served genre... what was slightly strange was the fact that, while in the opening credits there was the whole "and introducing: chris brown" thingy that dreamgirls had for j.hudson, pursuit of happyness had for will smith's son, and hairspray had for nikki blonsky, chris brown died within the first 15 minutes of the movie... so the rest of the show was left to his on-screen brother, columbus short, who is probably a better actor/dancer anyways, so not much of a loss there...
i also finally got around to watching Codename: The Cleaner which has been sitting idle in my hard drive for months, and it was funny, though it was a straight-to-dvd movie in singapore... cedric the entertainer, nicolette sheridan, lucy liu and the actress that plays Jacuzzi are pretty hilarious characters...
i've got Jump In! and Accepted (from the producers of American Pie, starring Justin Long, the Mac guy in the Mac ads and the odd-ball-looking love interest of lindsay in Herbie and the more suitably geeky tech guy in Live Free or Die Hard) waiting to be watched over this week, and i'm trying my hardest to get my hands on She's The Man (after hairspray i kinda re-liked amanda bynes again)
Britney's elusively-titled album drops Nov 11...
oh and watch out for Brave, the latest english album from J.Lo, barely 12 months after Como Ama Una Mujer was released... lead single Do It Well is pretty hot...
the MTV VMAs in vegas are at the same time as HSM 2 next sunday...
same game,
John.
