since i've not had that much to do, my posts have been predominantly about music releases...

LeAnn Rimes first album in many years, Family, is not exactly what i would call a musically sound album, but perhaps i'm listening from a high place 'cos of the good albums i've sampled over the past few days, so i'm slightly more sensitive to bad lyrics and such...
there are still some good tracks though, and if you're a fan of the grey area that occupies the gap between mainstream and country, you'll like the easy-to-listen-to melodies...

the good albums that i'm referring to, apart from Heroes & Thieves and Life in Cartoon Motion include Dashboard Confessional's The Shade of Poison Trees, an excellent alternative album that has a slightly more indie-acoustic sound than the shouting anthems of Dusk and Summer...
there were times while listening to it that i was reminded of some tracks from the previous album in terms of certain musical phrases...

Sean Kingston's self-titled album is not entirely represented by Beautiful Girls and Me Love, though these are good tracks by themselves...
but the material of the whole album is much closer to Rihanna's Music of the Sun than Sean Paul, which in my opinion is much more pleasant...

will.i.am, who is probably one of the most brilliant producers of the past few years apart from timbaland, swiss beatz and pharell wiliams, released a collection of whimsical tracks aptly titled Songs About Girls, and there hasn't been an album that has blended such seemingly shallow content with fresh musical takes... listen to Impatient to really get a feel of what he can offer...

Corbin Bleu, the better dancer in the HSM cast, is the epitome of disney pop discography in Another Side, his solo album to complement his fellow cast members Vanessa Anne Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale, the latter of which has a rather techno-esque video complementing her lead single He Said She Said out on MTV...
the whole feel of that video is mirrored by Corbin's own singles Deal With It and Push It To The Limit, but the shining track of the album is his duet with V.Hudgens, Still There For Me...

and finally, Natalie Imbruglia, who is arguably the biggest thing to come from aussie apart from kylie minoge, has gone the way of many a successful artiste by releasing her greatest hits collection titled Glorious: '97 to '07...
a very relaxing album, similar in sound to the greatest hits of the corrs from 4 years back...

resident evil in a bit, and class gathering tomorrow...

matters of blood and connection,
John.
