Now that the exams are barely a week away, we must all reflect on what we have achieved in the past 9 months.
Have you reached the goals that you set for yourself at the very beginning of the year?
Are there any other targets you have failed to meet?
If you could turn back time, do you think you could have done it a way that might have been successful?
Next, look at the aims that you have set out to get for the final exams. After the whole school year, do you think these aims are still reasonable? Should you lower your expectations so as to be more realistic, but at the same time keep your confidence up? Or should you set higher goals to accomplish, and reach higher than what you seem to be able to?
But in all of this, I feel it is only right that I share with you what I have been told by one of my coaches.
It goes like this: Everyone has his or her potential. Let us use a straight line to show this. It is possible for one to push his or her limits to the extreme and achieve the MAXIMUM potential they are able to. But is it worth it, pushing yourself so hard and paying such a steep price for that maximum potential?
Why not simply work towards your OPTIMUM, and not push yourself to the edge, but just do the best without killing yourself over it? This optimum is about 3/4 of your full potential, but it is better than pushing the ceiling till it falls and kills you.
jlc, wishing one and all PEACE...
