Refllections a week later

Last week this day we ended our sojourn at church camp, and those of us who were there will testify having experienced one of the best we've ever had. I'm not quite sure what we were laughing at in the pool, but this picture kind of captures those 4 days in one still moment. Seated 3-hour long conversations while traveling back and forth made for yet more confirmation of the fact that, all in all, company makes up 95% of any trip.

Strange, then, what can change in one week, as I experience yet another vicissitude of life, where one less social event (I can count 2 others this year I would have liked to be at) while sounding like a bad song title is actually more affecting than I would like it to be.

For the memories

There's another photo of me and 3 of my oldest and best friends laughing at something in the pool, but I thought the tranquility of the surroundings we were in summed up my experience up North. Luxury, expanses of free time, insane food brilliant company. I could not have asked for more from Church Camp 2010, just that it has given me the life I need to live the 2nd half of my year. Thanks friends!

winning moment

Sometimes you chance upon something you never knew about a friend you've known for the longest time. And the discovery first casts a nice glow around things, then leads to another equally confirming discovery: there are different standards we hold ourselves too, and for me I've settled, but without all that negative connotation in that taboo word.

I could get an extended break for tomorrow, but I think I'll just sleep now and pray for the best.

"Spirit of God/we cry out for You now
we cry out/where would we be without You Jesus?/
Where would we be without You Lord?"
