so taylor's the new american idol...
it was one of the nicer finale shows, good guest stars...
favs: PRINCE and clay aiken...
best performance was ELLIOTT's "a house is not a home"...
got his track off ENCORES =)

chinese Os in two days...
our intensive/desperate chinese lessons are actually much less than other schools...
still, i really couldn't drag myself to this afternoon's...
there're ppl who skip more lessons than they go for, preferring to stay in class watching movies/playing DotA...

went to Apple@Bukit Timah for the first time today...
i'm definitely going back here, so peaceful...
and they have all the apple postcards i like... x)

a chair is not a house,

american idol 5 finale was nothing...
i miss the 3-finalist finale of season 2 and the uber-big season 3 finish...
taylor should win, loved his debut single...
kat totally paled in comparison, and her "somewhere over the rainbow" is so overrated...

new movie recommendation: X-MEN III
you have GOT to watch it, its so intense...
and you have GOT to stay till the end of the credits...
there's a second of 2 hints at what the storyline for the 4th movie will be like...
already can't wait!!!

do i make you proud,
john.

the mid years i was so worried about, have yielded results which signify that my worries were cogent - i'm quite displeased...
given i only had 4 days or preparation and my determination was at an all-time low, i can hardly say that the marks are unrepresentative of my ability (though some things, like the bio pract, i must vehemently protest)...
so, a summary:
LA (A) - 20/25
LA (B) - 14/25, a ridiculous feat of low-ness...
LA as a whole - 68%
IHS - 23.5/30, 78%, moderated to 88%...
Chem - 69%
Physics - 65%, my lowest, but satisfactory, considering i studied 1 and a half years' work in half a year =)
Bio - 68%, with a 2.6 pract out of 5, urgh, compared to my 4.7 in physics...
C math - 60/100 for paper 1 (a fluke i hope), 82/100 for paper 2, 71%
A math - 71/100 for paper 1 (another annoying paper), 96/100 for paper 2, 84%
Chinese - 70%, my most satisfying...
average - 72.9%
dismal? no doubt...
everyone in class was like, start studying for EOYs now!!
ET even asked for a tuition gp...
i dun think we have that much resolve...
chinese Os next though, i really want that A...

and she said yeah,
john.

i've been so many places in my life and time...
i've sung alot of songs, and i've made some bad advice...
i've acted out my life in stages, with ten thousand people watching...
but we're alone now, and I'm singing this song for you...

elliot yamin's journey on american idol ended today, and its with disappointment that i recognize kat and taylor going to the finale next week...
such injustice, no?

here's remembering elliot's many amazing performances:
if you really love me
i don't wanna be
if tomorrow never comes
teach me tonight
i don't wanna bore you
what i won't do for love
on broadway
it had to be you
somebody to love
trouble
A SONG FOR YOU
MOODY'S MOOD FOR LOVE...
two of the most amazing songs, the latter being the best performance of the season, by far...
and its on the ENCORES album...

You taught me precious secrets of the truth, withholding nothing,
You came out in front and I was hiding,
But now I'm so much better, so if my words don't come together,
Listen to the melody 'cause my love is in there hiding

is there wonder why, i'm really in the mood for love,
john.

13/5 -
to two really special people, i wish the most amazing birthday!

josh -
where'd the time go?
you're practically an adult lah!
nonetheless, don't lose that insanity you have anytime soon yeah? =)
i don't think anyone would argue that whoever has come to know you has been truly enriched in one way or another, and i'm no exception...
thanks for just about everything!
happy can-buy-alcohol-legally-finally 18th!

sher -
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
i thought i'd pay tribute to your unstoppable laughter right from the start... x)
its been such a joy knowing you, all the conversations, the hilarious discussions and what not...
yay us tv addicts!
blessed 16th!
(welcome to the club, alas!)

beyond the sea,
john.

HE'S STILL IN!!!
i was beyond afraid that elliot would go out this week, but thank goodness... if you're wondering, he did SO WELL!!!
chris was eliminated, though he didn't deserved to be... taylor and his barminess and katherine's screechiness, argh...

the 2nd of the three last papers, which all happen to be maths, just ended, and i don't think i did as well as i could have... what's new rite? argh, again...

i've gone out for lunch everyday of the past 5 days, either to dover hawker centres or the village...
then it was movie today at the cathay...
i actually thought i was quite smart choosing it, coz its new and we shouldn't bump into too many ppl, but how wrong was i...
the WHOLE of 4.14 was there, and when i called seb to tell him, he said he was coming as well...
and he sat in the row in front of me!
MI: III - not worth a second watch, but its one of the summer blockbusters, which i daresay are not lacking this summer...
x men 3: the last stand, superman with brandon routh, the da vinci code, poseidon, plus a few more i've forgotten from reading FIRST...

one more paper...

i've just been reading the blogs of ppl i know who've gone overseas to study/stay and stuff, and i can't help but wonder what it feels like to up and leave for such long periods...
when it comes my year's turn to head to uni, i'm pretty sure many of us will be going at the same time, not just one in a few months...

my middle name is misery...
john.

my new source of good music - fox's so you think you can dance! love the dancing, love the songs they choose...
last night's top 14 - not as good as top 16, but loved the songs, particularly:
snow's solo choice: lucas prada (the guy i first thought was such an annoyance after ma ya hi) - "and she said": very catchy!
michelle's solo choice: black eyed peas' "disco club": very groovy...

k 4 papers more...

how do measure a last year on earth?
john.

Sunday, 7 May 2006

5 more days of papers await, with the hardest tomorrow....
gotta do extremely well for four continents to make up for my sickening poem...
and chemistry - argh...
and there's bio straight after, i think i'm gonna combust or something...

a slideshow,
john.

american idol season 5 the encores - premieres may 19th...
this week's performances were so-so, my fav being chris' "renegade", especially the first two bars...
common tests - probably my first time i've felt so little confidence in two papers... hopefully this stops during next week's papers...
went for lunch at the village's crystal jade...
a break from my study routine, one which is seriously not showing the results i normally get...
anyways, lots of new music to sample, so here's my week's selections:
"Gallery" by mario vazquez, the american idol season 4 finalist who quit... he's really good, get his performance and audition files too, very impressive...
"What's left of me" by nick lachey... i had no idea he could sing so well, so yeah, jessica's not the only talented ex-newlywed...
"Halo" by haley james scott, aka bethany joy lenz, off the one tree hill soundtrack vol. 2... catchy, and from an OTH fan, just great...
"If i were you" by hoobastank, from their new album "every man for himself" hot on the heals of 2003's "the reason"... not bad, though it lacks the reason's oomph...
"Second place victory" and "Slideshow" from the one-album wonders, this day and age... alternative rock at its best...

good videos to sample:
the revamped "SOS" vid from rihanna that replaces the sports-themed older version...
"let U go" from ashley parker angel...
"gimme that" by chris brown - very oldies...

and of course, the fav tv serials:
one tree hill season 3 episode 20 - Everyday is Sunday Morning, pre-finale episode to Over the Hills and Far Away...
the OC season 3 episode 23 - The Party Favor
desperate housewives season 3 episode 20 - It wasn't meant to happen

do i do,
john.
